RECOMMENDED USE: Traditionally used for the reduction of the cholesterol level in the blood. It has the property of fighting injurious cholesterol LBD (lipoproteins of low density) and to increase to the lipoproteins of High Density (good cholesterol) avoiding the LBD of becoming a toxic substance for the arteries. INGREDIENTS: Caigua (Cyclantera pedata S.). CONTENT: 90 capsules / 360 mg. each one. DOSE: Take 2 capsules, two times daily, before meals. WARNINGS: Do not take if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
DO YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE? ... Long-term epidemiological studies have established that high levels of cholesterol in blood serum are a factor of high risk in coronary cardiac illnesses. Caigua, a hollow, cucumber-shaped plant from Peru, is recognized for its anti-hypertensive action. Its lipotropic effect diminishes the levels of cholesterol efficiently in the blood, especially the “bad” LDL cholesterol that accumulates in the arteries as a component of the lipo proteins that are a decisive factor in the development of arteriosclerosis. Some of the components of cholesterol are dangerous for the arteries while others are beneficial. Caigua has an astonishing effect on the bad cholesterol in that it seems to modify the LDL so that it is not so dangerous. Caigua combats the bad cholesterol by reducing the lipo proteins by as much as one third, and increasing the “good” cholesterol (HDL) lipo proteins by again as much as one third, thus reducing sharply the toxic effects of LDL on the arteries. In the portions of the dried cucumber (Caigua) we find pectin, galactic acid - a bitter principle: picrin, mineral salts, and perhaps the most important component: a steroidal compound comprised of a sitosterol mixture of 3 beta-D glycoside, which is believed to have an excellent effect on the treatment of the cholesterol and triglycerides. The Caigua contains a sitosterol mixture that is attributed with having the effect of reducing the increase of LDL cholesterol and at the same time increasing the HDL cholesterol, which is extremely important in cases of arteriosclerosis and after a heart attack. A relationship exists between hypercholesterolemia and the risk of coronary arterial disease, a risk that increases with advanced age and in women going through menopause. The sitosterol and other sterols of vegetable origin influence the absorption of the cholesterol, principally the exogenous and endogenous types, and they reduce the consecutive risks. The biosynthesis of cholesterol is a key function of the human organism and is reflected in many organs (liver, skin, bowels and arteries) paving the way as a precursor of many illnesses. In a study carried out by the University Cayetano Heredia on the effects of Caigua on lipidic profiles of middle-aged adults, the following results were obtained: The study was designed to determine if the oral administration of Caigua (dehydrated, in different dosages) over a 12 week period, modified the lipidic profiles of adults of both sexes. The researchers divided 60 subjects into six different groups. During the 12 weeks of treatment a reduction of serum cholesterol of 18.3% was observed, with the “bad” cholesterol (LDL) being reduced 23%, and the good cholesterol (HDL) increasing 42% in the group who took 6 Caigua capsules. In the cases of hypercholesterolemia the treatment with 6 Caigua capsules normalized the levels of serum cholesterol in 82% of the cases; as did the cases of LDL hypercholesterolemia. The serum triglycerides also decreased significantly with the use of the dehydrated Caigua. From this study, we can draw the conclusion that dehydrated Caigua is an appropriate treatment for the cases of hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglicerideridemia. |
