Articular cartilage is important features of the human body, supporting its basic structure and allowing mobility. The outer surfaces of the bones are linked by cartilage tissue, which allows movement and repositioning. The synovial membrane has the function of feeding, protecting and covering these cartilage tissues. Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which the body attacks its own tissues, cartilage and joint linings. The synovial membranes are attacked, and become inflamed, resulting in pain, swelling and stiffness, especially noticeable in the morning. The longer the synovial membrane is inflamed, the more damage is likely for the bones and cartilage. This condition can result in loss of bone density and fractures. With appropriate treatment, the inflammation can be controlled, but once bone damage takes place, it is irreversible.

Although Rheumatoid Arthritis generally attacks bi-laterally (both left and right sides the body) and affects the synovial membranes, inflammation and stiffness may be present in surrounding areas, such as muscles and other tissue. Rheumatoid nodules, hard lumps or deformities, can appear in nearby areas, such as elbows or fingers. These nodules are the consequence of the development of the illness, not to be confused with cancerous tumors.

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic disease of variable intensity and in general of long duration. It usually affects women between the ages of 45 and 55, but can also be found in men and children, although much more rarely. In severe cases, it can cause crippling. Uncontrolled Rheumatoid Arthritis can result in progressive deformity of the extremities, and loss of the ability to perform daily functions. Contributing factors may include physical and emotional stress, poor nutrition and bacterial infections.

In an effort to alleviate the sometimes overwhelming effects of this disease, we have created “VITASHARK”, a product made with the help of shark cartilage and Cat’s Claw.

Cat’s Claw has been widely studied as an anti-inflammatory, which has been attributed to its content of oxindolic alkaloids. These studies have been conducted in four hospitals in Peru: Lima, Callao, Ica and Huancayo, with 60 patients with classic Rheumatoid Arthritis.

In a double blind test, 31 patients received 6 daily capsules of Cat’s Claw (Uncaria tomentosa) and another group of 29 patients received the same quantity of capsules containing a placebo. The study lasted 6 months, and they carried out an evaluation at the one month, three month and six month periods.

The results revealed with stunning clarity that the patients who that Cat’s experienced a very significant improvement in morning stiffness, daily pain levels and a reduction in the number of inflamed joints.

Shark cartilage contains collagen fibers and glucosaminides, which are valuable tools in treating osteoporosis, which is a degenerative joint disease in which the cartilage at the ends of the bones becomes deteriorated. Osteoarthritis usually affects only the articular cartilage, and not the synovial membrane, as with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Shark cartilage also contains Mucopolysacharides, which possess anti-inflammatory properties, very useful in treating this type of illness, since traditional anti-inflammatory medicines frequently product side effects, and Shark Cartilage does not.

Shark Cartilage has an approximate composition of 40% proteins, mostly the Mucopolysacharides (chondroitin and collagen). The principal albumin of the skin and the connective tissue, are also 18% calcium, 9% organic phosphorus, 1% magnesium, carbohydrates and trace elements.

Mucopolysacharides are a basic substance that is associated with collagen, the first line of defense (skin and mucous membranes) against bacteria and infections. This substance is also contained in the cartilages and the synovial fluids, an important consideration in the control of rheumatic illnesses.

Shark cartilage is reported to be 100 greater in quantity and 1000 times greater in quality when compared with cartilage from other species. This is especially important when considering its anti-angiogenic properties that restrict blood flow to tumors and cause tumors to suffocate and die. This anti-angiogenic effect may also be applied to other degenerative illnesses, such as arthritis, enteritis, diabetic retinopathy and psoriasis. Shark cartilage has major effects on pain, inflammation and angiogenesis without a single harmful side effect.

Vitashark contains Shark Cartilage, in a substantial concentration (720 mg/tablet) in addition to Cat’s Claw (Uncaria tomentosa). Both components give this product an effectiveness recognized in the treatment of Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
